Literacy Magic: Creating a Language-Rich Classroom Environment
This workshop provides an overview of emergent literacy and the early childhood and elementary classroom — with a focus on strategies to help young learners acquire English language skills. Through simulations, videos, and practical examples, this workshop will integrate current theory and research in language and literacy development for early childhood and elementary classrooms.
In this workshop, participants will discover a practical and intentional process for planning and implementing literacy and language based-teaching. Participants will explore practical examples of how to adapt centers and instruction to support emergent literacy and English language learning. Participants will gain tools and strategies for classroom management, decision-making and managing the multiple needs within a classroom. This workshop will provide strategies to meet the needs of both highest performing students and struggling students. Participants will gain new teaching practices that make a significant difference to student learning.
