Resource exploitation, waste generation, and increased emissions are harming nature and life on Earth. Currently, 2.1 billion tonnes of waste are generated annually, projected to reach 3.4 billion tonnes by 2050. India contributes 12% of this waste with 17.7% of the global population and 2.4% of the world’s surface area. Rising global temperatures are also problematic. To achieve sustainable development goals and ensure a comfortable future, we must alter consumption patterns, enhance resource efficiency, and convert waste into valuable products while decarbonizing processes. The 14th lconSWM-CE & IPLA GF 2024 aims to foster discussions among global stakeholders, including governments, academia, industries, and NGOs, involving 800 delegates from nearly 60 countries.
